Il Maestro Liutaio MICHAEL DUNN  vive ed opera a New Westminster, Canada occidentale, ed è uno dei più stimati liutai contemporanei. Animatore del Consorzio dei Liutai Americani, espone le sue chitarre con successo in tutte le più importanti manifestazioni del settore ed è un punto di riferimento per tutti. E' conosciuto è stimato per la sua perizia e conoscenza nella costruzione delle chitarre Gypsy, gli strumenti inventati da Mario Maccaferri e resi famosi dal grande Django Reinhardt. Dopo alcuni soggiorni in Spagna, dove per lungo tempo ha studiato l'arte della costruzione delle chitarre tradizionali classiche e da flamenco sotto lo guida dei maestri Jose Orti e Jose Ferrer, Michael ha dedicato la sua vita professionale allo sviluppo della chitarra Gypsy, inventando e perfezionando diversi modelli, guidato dalla concezione di non costruire delle copie, ma di raggiungere e perfezionare le caratteristiche del suono originale dell'"Hot Club". Così i suoi strumenti hanno una grande modernità all'interno della tradizione, con studi specifici sui tipi di legnami da usare e sull'evoluzione della camera di risonanza interna, tutti argomenti oggetto delle sue lezioni a Sarzana. 

Il Maestro Liutaio ROBERTO FONTANOT è attivo da oltre 10 anni. Svolge la sua attività a Verona dividendosi tra la liuteria ed il laboratorio dove vengono realizzati i suoi strumenti musicali. Oltre alla funzione di punto di assistenza di marchi prestigiosi (Blade™, Cole Clark™, Maton™) ed essere il liutaio di fiducia di artisti notissimi (Dodi Battaglia, Pino Daniele, Ricky Portera, Tommy Emmanuel, Maurizio Solieri), da sempre svolge una serrata attività di ricerca nel campo acustico tesa a migliorare la difficile arte del realizzare strumenti acustici di grande impatto sonoro. In questa ottica vanno interpretate le sua collaborazioni con l’Università di Padova, con l’ing. Selmo e con il produttore di corde Cocco. 
Gli strumenti musicali della liuteria e la coscienza dell’arte della realizzazione del suono costituiscono la ricetta segreta della qualità acustica dei prodotti di Roberto Fontanot. La linea attuale di tre tipologie di strumenti acustici è la concretizzazione dell’analisi scientifica del suono, della sua nascita e propagazione, della conoscenza della fisica, dell’acustica degli strumenti e degli ambienti. 
La liuteria di Roberto Fontanot è situata all’interno del negozio veronese Musical Box. 

Il Prof. ANTONIO SELMO si è laureato in Ingegneria Elettronica presso l’Università degli Studi di Padova nel 1985. Consegue il Dottorato di ricerca in Bioelettromagnetismo e Compatibilità Elettromagnetica presso la stessa Università nel 2006. La sua attività preminente è legata alla realizzazione di strumenti e metodologie di misurazione, depositando un congruo numero di brevetti, alcuni dei quali, di valore internazionale, in corso di rilascio. Dal 1999 collabora, in maniera continuativa, con il C.I.S.A.S. (Centro Interdipartimentale Studi e Attività Spaziali) “G. Colombo” di Padova, come progettista di apparati e sistemi di misura e controllo. In particolare, uno degli ultimi lavori realizzati riguarda  il sistema di alimentazione e di acquisizione dati inseriti nella sonda HASI BALLON, nel contesto del progetto Huygens Cassini. Sua la realizzazione del sistema di amplificazione con amplificatori di carica per trasduttori piezoelettrici e sommatore vettoriale per strumenti musicali. 

Il Maestro DAVIDE MASTRANGELO  è direttore e fondatore del Centro Studi Fingerstyle di Bibbiena (AR) e docente di chitarra acustica presso l'Accademia di Chitarra LIZARD di Fiesole. Ha scritto e pubblicato insieme a Giovanni Unterberger i due volumi di "Scuola di Chitarra Acustica", edizioni BMG/RICORDI. Tiene continuamente seminari di didattica chitarristica in varie città italiane ed è un punto di riferimento per i giovani studenti di questo strumento per la sua profonda preparazione e capacità di comunicazione. Collabora assiduamente alle iniziative didattiche dell'Associazione Culturale "Armadillo Club" ed è il Coordinatore Didattico dell'Acoustic Guitar International Meeting. 

PAOLO GIORDANO  è uno dei più grandi chitarristi acustici italiani, conosciuto e stimato in tutto il panorama internazionale della chitarra. Maestro nel fingerstyle e ricercatore di tecniche avanzate quali tapping, slide, effetti percussivi, è un virtuoso dello strumento, capace di unire queste complesse sonorità a bellissime melodie ispirate da sentimenti profondi. Ha collaborato con grandi artisti della scena mondiale: Michael Manring, Alex Acuna, Michael Spiro,  Patti Cathcart, voce del duo Tuck & Patti, sono alcuni degli artisti con cui ha realizzato incisioni discografiche e suonato in concerto. 
Presente all'Acoustic Guitar International Meeting molte volte come applaudito performer, viene questa volta presentato a grande richiesta come docente, per illustrare ed analizzare profondamente le sue tecniche e ricerche stilistiche. 

SALVATORE RUSSO è chitarrista di fama internazionale, in 20 anni di attività artistica ha suonato stabilmente per molti dei più importanti cantautori nazionali come ANTONELLO VENDITTI, ADRIANO CELENTANO, MASSIMO DI CATALDO, FRANCO SIMONE, MARIO ROSINI ed è stato presente nell’ organico orchestrale che ha suonato per LUCIANO LIGABUE, FRANCESCO DE GREGORI, GIANNI MORANDI, RICCARDO COCCIANTE, GIANNA NANNINI, EROS RAMAZZOTTI, PATTY SMITH, JOSSOUN DOUR, LOREDANA BERTE’, PAOLO VALLESI ed altri. 
Tutte le collaborazioni in orchestra di Salvatore Russo sono state di grande prestigio perché hanno visto come direttori  alcuni dei più importanti maestri italiani come: CELSO VALLI, arrangiatore di Vasco Rossi, Ramazzotti, Moranti ed altri, ed il maestro PINO CARUSO, il più importante direttore musicale della storia televisiva italiana. 
Tra le svariate collaborazioni discografiche  di grande pregio, và ricordata quella con la cantante di lingua spagola ANA BELEN  nel disco “Pieces De Ciudad",  che ha venduto più di due milioni di copie tra Spagna e Americhe. 
Salvatore Russo ha al suo attivo due cd come solista di genere rock-fusion, editi e distribuiti in tutto il mondo con discreto successo. Attualmente  è impegnato in un progetto di genere musicale “Gypsy Jazz” con la sua band dal nome “GYPSYMOOD”. 

STOCHELO ROSENBERG  è uno dei massimi esponenti della chitarra acustica nello stile Gypsy Jazz. 
Zingaro dell' Olanda (chiamati "Sinti"), è diventato una leggenda della chitarra suonando da più di venti anni con il suo famosissimo trio, il "Rosenberg Trio" con il quale ha registrato più di 15 cd editi e distribuiti in tutto il mondo dalle maggiori etichette discografiche.  Il suo stile personale è inconfondibile, e consiste in una base musicale ereditata dalla musica di Django Reinhardt arricchita con un fraseggio tecnico personale estremamente virtuosistico e trascendentale al quale si sommano influenze culturali moderne perfettamente integrate nel linguaggio della sua cultura musicale Sinti. Proprio questa particolarità ha fatto si che Stochelo Rosenberg sia diventato con gli anni in tutto il mondo, una "ICONA VIVENTE" della chitarra acustica Gypsy Jazz. 

PHIL LEADBETTER è stato votato come miglior dobroista dell'anno nel 2005 dall'IBMA (Internationa Bluegrass Music Association) ed  è considerato uno dei tre migliori specialisti dello strumento attualmente in circolazione insieme a Jerry Douglas e Rob Ikes. Ha iniziato la sua carriera giovanissimo e dal 1990 al 2001 è stato membro della band di J.D. Crowe e New South con la quale ha avuto l'opportunità di esibirsi in tutti gli Stati Uniti, in Europa e al Grand Ole Opry. Dal 2001 ha fondato la band Wildfire con la quale ha realizzato 3 cd che sono sempre stati in cima alle classifiche del bluegrass americano. Da solista ha realizzato 2 cd. La canzone California Cottonfield, contenuta nel suo ultimo lavoro discografico, è stata n° 1 delle classiche bluegrass americane per due mesi consecutivi. 
Nel 2003 la Gibson realizza il "Phil Leadbetter Signature Dobro". 

ALESSIO AMBROSI è il Presidente dell'Associazione culturale "Armadillo Club" di Sarzana, da svariati anni operativa nel campo dell'organizzazione di eventi musicali di qualità. E' l'ideatore ed il direttore artistico dell'Acoustic Guitar International Meeting di Sarzana,  al cui interno si svolge il Corso di Formazione.  Con pluriennale  esperienza come chitarrista e come promotore di eventi con protagonista la chitarra acustica, continua ad operarsi per la crescita della conoscenza di questo strumento sia nel campo della composizione musicale sia nel campo della sua arte costruttiva.

PAOLO GIORDANO sarà impegnato in concerti e demo  presso lo spazio EKO/MARTIN all'interno dell'Esposizione di Liuteria, Import, Accessori durante l'intera manifestazione.

Master luthier MICHAEL DUNN    lives and works in New Westminster, west Canada, and is one of the most highly esteemed contemporary luthiers. Organizer of the Consortium of American Luthiers, he successfully exhibits his guitars in all of the most important events of the sector and is considered as a point of reference for all of them. He is known and esteemed for his skill and expertise in the construction of Gypsy guitars, instruments which were invented by Mario Maccaferri and made famous by Django Reinhardt. After several sojourns in Spain where he studied the art of the construction of the traditional Flamenco and classical guitars under the masters Jose Orti e Jose Ferrer, Michael dedicated his professional life to the development of the Gypsy guitar, inventing and perfecting several models, guided by the desire not only to construct simple copies, but also to achieve and perfect the characteristics of the “Hot Club” original sound. His instruments have a great modernity inside tradition, with specific studies on the types of wood used for the evolution of the internal sound box, all subjects which are to be treated during classes in Sarzana. 

Master Luthier ROBERTO FONTANOT has been active in the art of Lutherie for over 10 years. Besides working in customer service for prestigious guitar brands (Blade™, Cole Clark™, Maton™) and being the trusted Luthier of well-known artists such as Pino Daniele, Ron, and Tommy Emmanuel, he has always been dedicated to research in the acoustic field and improving the difficult art of creating instruments with great impact for their resonant qualities. From this point of view one can understand the importance of his collaborations with Dr. Selmo at the University of Padova. 
The musical instruments of lutherie and the conscience of the art of sound creation constitute the secret recipe for the quality of Roberto Fontanot’s products. The present line of three typologies for acoustic instruments is the application of the scientific analysis of sound from its birth and propagation, the application of his knowledge of physics and  the application of the acoustics of instruments and their environments. 
Roberto Fontanot’s workshop is situated inside  the music store “Musical Box” in Verona. 

Professor ANTONIO SELMO graduated in Electronic Engineering at l’Università degli Studi di Padova in 1985. He received a doctorate of research in Bioelectromagnetism and Electromagnetic Compatibility from the same university in 2006. His preeminent work is connected to the creation of instruments and methodologies of measurement, registering a congruent number of patents, some of which on an international level and currently under review. He has been collaborating with the C.I.S.A.S. (Centro Interdipartimentale Studi e Attività Spaziali) “G. Colombo” on a continuous basis since 1999 as a designer of measure and control apparatuses and systems. In particular, one of his latest completed works regards the data supply and acquisition system inserted in the HASI BALON probe, in context of the Huygens Cassini  project.  He also created the amplification system with charged amplifiers for piezoelectric transducers and sommatore vettoriale for musical instruments. 

Master DAVIDE MASTRANGELO is the founder and director of the Fingerstyle Centre of Study in Bibbiena (Arezzo) and teacher at the LIZARD Guitar Academy in Fiesole. Together with Giovanni Untenberger he has written the two volumes of “ Scuola di Chitarra Acustica” (published by BMG/Ricordi). He holds guitar methodology workshops regularly throughout Italy and is considered as a landmark figure for the young Italian guitar students in the performance preparation stage. He is an assiduous collaborator of the methodology initiatives presented by the Associazione Culturale “Armadillo Club” and the Didactics Coordinator at the Acoustic Guitar International Meeting. 

PAOLO GIORDANO    is one of the greatest Italian acoustic guitarists, renowned and esteemed in all the international panorama of the guitar. Master of fingerstyle and in continuous research of advanced technique such as tapping, the use of the slide and percussive effects, he is a virtuoso of the instrument, capable of uniting these complex sonorities to beautiful melodies inspired by profound feeling. He has collaborated with great artists on the worldwide scene: Michael Manring, Alex Acuna, Michael Spiro,  Patti Cathcart, singer of the Tuck & Patti duo, are only some of the artists that he has recorded or played with in concerts.  Present at the Acoustic Guitar International Meeting several times as an applauded performer, he is here this time upon great request as a teacher, in order to illustrate and analyze his techniques and style. 

SALVATORE RUSSO is an internationally famous guitarist: during his 20 years of artistic endeavors, he has played continuously for several important singer songwriters including Antonello Venditti, Adriano Celentano, Massimo Di Cataldo, Franco Simone and Mario Rosini, and has been present in the orchestral arrangements that have played for Luciano Ligabue, Francesco De Gregori, Gianni Morandi, Riccardo Cocciante, Gianna Nannini, Eros Ramazzotti, Patty Smith, Joussoun Dour as well as others. 
All of Salvatore’s collaborations in such musical groups and bands have been of great prestige as they have been directed by illustrious Italian maestri such as Celso Valli, arranger for Vasco Rossi, Ramazzotti, Morandi and others, and maestro Pino Caruso, the most important musical director in the history of Italian television. Among the various highly prestigious collaborations of recordings was also that of the Spanish singer Ana Belen in Pieces De Ciudad, recording that sold more than two million copies In Spain and America. 
Salvatore Russo has completed two solo rock-fusion CDs,  published and distributed worldwide that have won notable success. He is currently busy with a project in “Gypsy Jazz” style with the band, “GYPSYMOOD”. 

STOCHELO ROSENBERG is one of the most important figures of the acoustic guitar in the Gypsy Jazz style. A gypsy (or, “Sinti”) from Holland, Rosenberg became a legend on the guitar playing with the Rosenberg Trio", author of more than 15 CDs published and distributed all over the world by major record companies. His sound is unmistakable, consisting of a musical base inherited from the music of Django Reinhardt, enriched with virtuoso, transcendental melodic phrasing, uniting modern cultural influences to the musical culture of the Sinti. It is this very particularity that has made Stochelo Rosenberg become a “living icon” of the Jazz acoustic guitar over the years. 

PHIL LEADBETTER was voted as the best dobroist of 2005 by the IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) and is presently considered to be one of the three best specialists of the instrument together with Jerry Douglas and Rob Ikes. He began his career at a very early age and from  1990 to 2001 he was a member of the band of J.D. Crowe and New South with whom he has travelled in concert throughout the United States, Europe, and even the Grand  Old Opry. In 2001 he founded the band Wildfire and they have since recorded three CDs which have been constantly at the top of the hit lists for Bluegrass. He is also author  of two solo CDs. The song California Cottonfield from his latest CD was number one on the Bluegrass hit lists for two consecutive months. In 2003, Gibson released the "Phil Leadbetter Signature Dobro". 
 

COORDINATOR 

ALESSIO AMBROSI is the President of the Associazione Culturale “Armadillo Club” in Sarzana, Italy, and has operated in the organization of high quality musical events for several years. He is the creator and the artistic director of the Acoustic Guitar International Meeting in Sarzana, the most important event in the sector in Italy and one of the most widely recognized abroad, which will be hosting this year’s workshops and seminars. With several years of experience as a guitarist and as promoter of the festival for the acoustic guitar, he continues to support the growth of the knowledge and appreciation of this instrument both in the fields of composition as well as the field of the art of guitar making. 

The entire Meeting will be held from May 16th to May 20th. Along with the workshops there will also be the Luthiers, Import, Acoustic Guitar Accessories Exhibition and concerts with the best international performers. 

PAOLO GIORDANO will be in concert during the days at Martin Guitars booth. He will perform on the main stage on Sunday May 20th 

SALVATORE RUSSO & STOCHELO ROSENBERG  will be in concert on the main stage on Thursday May 17th. 

PHIL LEADBETTER will be in concert on the same stage on Friday May 18th

A distanza di un po’ di giorni dalla chiusura della IX edizione dell’Acoustic Meeting di Sarzana eccomi a scrivere, a mente rilassata, sulla tre giorni dedicata alla didattica per chitarra acustica. 
Comincio col dire che Alessio Ambrosi ama il rischio, ma si sa, la fortuna premia gli audaci (non fraintendetemi, il direttore artistico del festival ha un’esperienza ventennale nell’organizzazione di eventi musicali) e nonostante la “rischiosa” programmazione degli incontri in giorni lavorativi è stato raggiunto il numero massimo previsto di partecipanti. 
Allievi (passatemi il termine scolastico) provenienti da tutta Italia ma anche dal resto d’Europa (Irlanda e Germania) hanno testimoniato il prestigio e la serietà del Meeting oltre che il rinnovato interesse per la chitarra acustica. 
Tre giorni impegnativi per tutti ma belli, bellissimi... a cominciare dalla sintonia subito avvertita tra studenti e maestri, per finire al palco, ottimamente amplificato dalla SR TECNOLOGY e collocato in un suggestivo salone all’interno della Fortezza Firmafede. 
Blues, slide, esercizi ritmici, accordature alternative, sono solo alcuni degli argomenti trattati, ma quello che rimane, a mio parere, al di là delle tecniche studiate è la “lezione”di umiltà, disponibilità e esperienza che due veri artisti come Woody Mann e Bob Brozman hanno saputo trasmettere. 
Non mi dilungo troppo e ringrazio tutti per questa esperienza, invitandovi alla X edizione del festival nel 2007.
