The 10th
Acoustic Guitar Meeting will take place from May 16th to May 20th
in the city of Sarzana: one of the most important observatories on the
acoustic guitar’s world with concerts, seminars, workshops, lutherie, import
and accessories exhibition.
The Meeting
is the ideal opportunity for the audience interested in this event to take
a vacation in a beautiful location, just a few kilometres from Cinque Terre
and Lunigiana valley.
The Firmafede
Fortress, a 15th century’s fort, in the historical city centre, is the
fulcrum of the event, organized by the Cultural Association Armadillo Club,
in co-operation with the Local Cultural Councillor of the city of Sarzana
and other institutional and musical partners. Inside its magnificent
walls, the performances of the best international acoustic guitar players
will take place on the main stage located in the courtyard, and the booths
of the luthiers and the exhibitors in the intern rooms.
This year
a very important aspect will be the Training Course of the Acoustic Guitar,
Lutherie and Playing Techniques (May 16th-17th-18th) held by great international
masters such as the luthiers Michael Dunn and Roberto Fontanot and the
famous guitarists Davide Mastrangelo, Paolo Giordano, Salvatore Russo,
Stochelo Rosenberg and Phil Leadbetter in the large conference room of

All the
city will be involved in various moments of music and entertainment: the
artists, protagonist of the Acoustic Guitar Meeting, will perform in the
streets and in the principal squares, involving and accompanying citizen
and tourists in a musical route between the city and the Fortress walls.
Martin Guitars
Company and the Italian distributors, EKO Group Factory, will be the main
sponsor and will exhibite in a special and large gallery of the Fortress.
Wilder-Davoli
Distributor, B BAND Company, John Pearse Strings will take part in the
sponsorship.
As every
year, Heineken brand will be the official beer and partner of the event.
The Acoustic
Guitar Lutherie, Import, Accessories Exhibition (18th-19th-20th May)
The Fortress
booths will be at disposal of master luthiers, Italian distributors and
importers, guitar makers, musical publishers, magazines, web sites, books
and there will be special spaces dedicated to CDs, DVDs, vinyl and
collector’s rarities and second hand guitars market.
For three
days the rooms of the Fortress will be animated by workshops and didactic
seminars held by the LIZARD Guitar Academy, fingerpicking.net and Atkins-Dadi
Guitar Players Association of Italy.
New initiatives
will be added to this great event: a special musical-didactic space dedicated
to children, the “Kids' Guitar Corner” ,
allowing the visitors to leave their kids with musical educators and “Be
Sound” , a workshop of awareness development
in a perceptive and expressive way in the musical act, through meditation,
relaxing and breathing techniques.
This workshop
will be always open to everyone is interested in an apposite room of the
fortress with the presence of experts and musicians.
The Concerts
(17th-18th-19th-20th May)
The main
stage will open from 12 am to 7 pm with demonstrations, concerts and
workshops at free entrance. At 9 pm with entrance ticket will start the
concerts with the best international acoustic guitar artists. (May 20 only
daily concerts, the Meeting will close at 7 pm)

players and to visit many fascinating places.
Sarzana,
in fact, is located at the beginning of Lunigiana Valley, a landscape rich
of little medieval villages on the hills, cultivated with olive and vineyards,
a few kilometres from the sea and the Gulf of Poets, with many interesting
itineraries like the Parco Naturale delle Cinque Terre, recognised as worldwide
humanity heritage.
